Traffic Facilities in the Macao Port Administration Area

  The HZMB Macao Port Administration Area was handed over to the Macao Special Administrative Region on March 15, 2018. Below is a brief introduction to the traffic facilities in the Administration Area:

 

i. Connecting Macao and the HZMB Macao Port Administration Area
  The Macao Port Administration Area boasts three main buildings: (the Frontier Post, the East Car Park and the West Car Park), as well as spaces for picking up and dropping off passengers in the west and east zones.

   Transport facilities:

1) East Car Park
  The seven-story East Car Park is designed for people visiting Macao and provides 3,000 parking spaces for light vehicles.

 

2) West Car Park
  The seven-story West Car Park is designed for people leaving Macao and provides 5,143 parking spaces, including 3,089 spaces for light vehicles and 2,054 spaces for heavy and light motorcycles.

 

3) Ground floor of the west zone (pick-up area)
  The ground floor of the west zone (pick-up area) comprises public bus stops, taxi stands, pick-up areas for light vehicles and motorcycles, heavy buses of travel agencies, heavy buses of hotels, heavy buses of casinos, heavy cross-border tourist buses and light cross-border vehicles, parking areas for heavy passenger buses, and charging area. Upon arrival at the Port Administration Area and completion of the entry formalities, citizens of/visitors to Macao can choose different means of transport to enter the urban area of Macao at the ground floor of the west zone (pick-up area).

 

4) 1/F of the west zone (drop-off area)
  1/F (drop-off area) of the west zone comprises public bus stops, and drop-off areas for heavy buses, light vehicles and motorcycles and cross-border tourist buses.  Citizens/visitors leaving Macao can drop off from here, proceed to the Frontier Post for exit formalities, and transfer to Hong Kong at the ground floor of the east zone (pick-up and drop-off area) or walk to Zhuhai Port within the Frontier Post.

 

5) Ground floor of the east zone (pick-up and drop-off area)
  The ground floor of the east zone (pick-up and drop-off area) comprises pick-up and drop-off areas for cross-border tourist buses, cross-border light vehicles, airport shuttle buses and port shuttle buses, parking areas for heavy buses, and charging areas.

 

 

ii. Cross-border vehicles from Hong Kong and Macao
  The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge spans about 35.6 kilometers long and allows citizens to travel to and from the three regions via different means of transport.


1) Port shuttle buses
  Port shuttle buses are the main means of transport among the three ports of the HZMB, including the Hong Kong-Macao line and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai line. The Hong Kong-Macao line mainly transports citizens and tourists to and from Macao port and Hong Kong port, while the Hong Kong-Zhuhai line mainly transports citizens and tourists to and from Hong Kong port and Zhuhai port.


2) Cross-border private service vehicles
  Within the validity period of the quota, private service light passenger vehicles with regular quota can travel over the HZMB to and from Hong Kong and Macao for unlimited times. Hong Kong issues a quota of 300, with a validity period of 3 years, and Macao issues a quota of 600, with a validity period of 1 year. Each region is responsible for issuing its own quota.


3) Cross-border buses
  Cross-border buses can travel to and from the urban areas of Macao and Hong Kong and provide nonstop cross-border passenger services heading for the urban areas of Macao and Hong Kong at designated times and stops.


4) Cross-border taxis
  With personal appointment, cross-border taxis can provide cross-border point-to-point pick-up and drop-off services between the urban areas of Macao and Hong Kong. The quota for cross-border taxis issued by Hong Kong and Macao is 100 in total. Each of the quota allows the operation of one taxi and with no limit on the number of round trips each cross-border taxi makes each day between Hong Kong and Macao. Each region is responsible for issuing its own quota.


5) Shuttle buses to Hong Kong International Airport
  Shuttle buses make round trips between the Macao Port Administration Area and Hong Kong International Airport, serving as an alternative for citizens and visitors to get to Hong Kong International Airport.


6) Cross-border official vehicles
  Only government vehicles from Hong Kong and Macao are allowed to enter the urban areas of Hong Kong and Macao via the HZMB. Each government is responsible for making its own arrangement and allocation.
